Life in an orphanage home

Baraka Children orphanage home

Life in the orphanage home
Baraka Children orphanage is found in Laikipia county in the mount Kenya region in place called Juakali. The orphanage was started by the Baptist Church of Kenya with the aim of helping many orphan children.
The orphanage is housing a total number of 28 children and 8 staff who happily live as one family a midist some challenges like inadequate beds for the children.
In this home, I had an interview with Paloma who is one of the orphans that are in the home and she narrates how she came to the home.

Paloma aged 16 years of age a female teenager found herself in the orphanage when she was four (4) years old and she was living in a village by Daraja, she never saw her parents. She only knows one relative who is a “matatu” driver but does not take care of her not even visiting her at the orphanage making her the orphanage as sole family and the members as brothers and sisters.
Paloma goes to Muramati Secondary School and she is in form 3 and everything at school is going on well for her studies. Her favourite subjects are biology and chemistry because she wants to be a doctor. She likes anthletics and performs well in her school team.
She said sometimes face some challenges as orphan when lacks something and cannot get it  but she says happy to stay at the home and she has good relation with everyone at the orphanage.
Paloma wants to help other orphans after realizing her dream of becoming a doctor
